CHILD # C07AC71
Veronica is a caring and creative young lady with a great smile and laugh. She describes herself as caring, gets along with younger children, creative, independent, and loving. She is a great helper too. She's learning the skills that she will need to be independent and successful on her own and is receptive to guidance from people who care about her. She has a lot of interests and hobbies including: roller skating, ice skating, reading, and doing crafts. She also recently learned how to crochet. Veronica prefers to be outside any chance she gets, so she hopes to find a family who likes spending a lot of time outside as well. She also loves animals and looks forward to having pets someday. Some of her favorite colors include purple, pink, and blue. She is physically healthy. Veronica wants to learn some new things, and hopes that she can find a family willing to introduce her to things and maybe even learn along with her. She would love to take horseback riding lessons, join a swim team, and attend a local youth group because church is very important to her. She also had formed a connection with her former youth pastor and has occasional visits with her for youth group retreats. These visits always go well. The two have a very strong connection that they hope to maintain. Adults who are nurturing, understanding of her past, and good listeners seem to form the best connections with Veronica. A family who will listen and help Veronica express her feelings would be helpful. She would be best in a home where she is the only child or the older of two youth. Veronica does well academically (science and reading are two of her favorite subjects). She does have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for emotional and life skills support allowing her to have supplemental support to succeed in a classroom setting. Veronica is interested in attending a trade school for culinary arts or cosmetology after graduation, but has not finalized these plans at the present time. She has also considered attending college so she could work with autistic children, which seems to be her main interest now. She's making consistent progress in her current placement where she lives with a group of girls. She has been working on maintaining a positive attitude while things are being asked of her, and her behavior has improved by listening to staff at the group home more. Veronica successfully maintained a part time job at a local restaurant but stepped down from this job in order to focus on her schooling to graduate. Veronica is legally free for adoption.
